It searches for documents that meet the criteria set in the search fields.
Eg. A search for the 'Bible' finds all the documents the title of which starts with the word 'Bible'.
The usual wildcard characters ( ? % * ) can all be used, although they are not necessary. By default the search function searches for the beginning of each word typed in separately. If you want to search for a text exactly, put a full stop at the end of the text.
Eg. If in the title you search for the text 'Bible.', then it will not find the book entitled 'The Bible in the Hungarian literature'.
If you fill in more fields,
-- you will only get hits that meet all the criteria (if the conjunction is AND),
-- there will be records which meet at least one of the criteria (if the conjunction is OR).
You can set the same search field at more places! In this way you can for example search for books that contain two (or three) topical terms you wish to find.
Eg. Topic: loans; Topic: bank; Conjunction: AND
The system does not perform searches that would produce too many (approx. 3000) hits.
