Thesaurus record (explanation)    

Thesaurus

The 2002 version of the thesaurus is uploaded in the TextLib library system. You were looking at this record when you opted for the [Help] button.

On this page the most important button is [About him/her/it]. With this function you can track down documents which are about him/her/it. If there is none, then the button is grey and is consequently inoperative.

You could obtain thesaurus records in the following ways:

• - by using the function 'search the thesaurus' and viewing any of the hits,
• - with the function 'browse the thesaurus', by choosing any of the keys
• - from the topical term field of a document (by clicking on the link there).

Between the thesaurus links there are various connections, you can track these connections by clicking on the links. When viewing a record, you can see the following fields (between '' you can see the designation used by the National Széchényi Library):

• Key: - the term itself
• Its superordinate - 'see also in more general'
• coordinate: - 'see also in other context'
• Subordinate: - 'see also more specifically'
• Host: - 'see also more comprehensively'
• Instead and: - 'see also'
• Instead or: - 'see also disjunctively'
• Reason: - 'see also in causal relationship'
• Effect: - 'see also in a relationship of effect'
